What is gsoc?
GSOC is nothing but we can say it is a platform that is provided by google for other companies ( known as organizations) to find student globally for their code contribution online or problem solving task through coding and a little amount of reward in terms of money is always given to the selected students in terms of back . This platform is available globally for all tech students or non-tech degree students also. Mainly its applications starts from February month and runs approximately up to 6 months and a part from this a certificate also provided to each students which helps a lot in resume build as a recognition of gsoc qualified. What are the steps that we can take for upcoming 2024 google summer of code
Step 1
Firstly know your interested field of stack ( core programming language ) in which you are best. and can do your best and master that field on fingers. with development and projects making stuffs so you can able to grab the source code of organizations easily.
Step 2
Now you will have to find your favorite organization on gsoc website on which you are likely to apply in 2023 so after finding the organization now go to the favorite organization GitHub profile and start contributing in their active open source projects and solve their bugs at least for 5 to 6 months with consistency. Try to fame a good impression in front of them by solving bugs.
Step 3 ( bonus step )
Try to engage with their active communities that are going online and help each other in the community always and don’t be greedy for self always. Try to contact previous mentors of gsoc for any type help by sending mails to them point should be noted here they will never scold you and always apricate you for asking help in the GitHub bug problem.
Step 4
Follow above steps with consistency till upcoming application of 2023 and soon the application opened just draft a proposal for your favorite organization as soon as possible and please be in contact with the mentors of organization before applying proposal.
Step 5
